6 generations typographic family tree

I have been having request about family trees with just names, so I have been getting ideas by looking around, and among a few ones, I really liked the simplicity and classy fee of the typography family chart by Jill Means design.
I decided to make my own version, and let me tell you, it does take quite some time to make it, but I am pretty satisfied of the result.
I used Photoshop elements, then made a JPEG page that I am going to upload on my website to have then printed. I could print it at home, but I really like the archival quality of the prints I get when ordering from Heritage Makers. This Family tree chart can be used as a baby gift, or birthday gift or for any other occasion, and allows you to list up to 6 generations:
This would look great on a 18x24 poster or canvas, but also a 16x20 canvas or 11x14 poster, or 5x7 announcement.
This is how it would look for a girl:
Here is a possible wedding one:

It can be really made in any color.
If you don't have 6 generations yet, this chart can be brought down to a 5 or 4 generations on a 12x12 page or canvas or also a 20x20 or 18x18 canvas.

So, no need for pictures, you can have a beautiful 6, 5 or 4  generations family tree just like this ones! Just give me a shout if you want to know how!

Please note that due to the nature of names, this is a special project and needs to be adjusted according to the names length, thus I cannot really provide a easy to use template, so I will have to create it for you.

Wedding pictures at hand

Remember your wedding? That was one of the most special day of your life...
If you are like me, and love those pictures that were taken on your day so much, if you could, you would bring your wedding album with you everywhere you go...
But..let's face it... That is not something that is really practical...
Well, I have found the solution for me: a swatchbook!

A swatchbook is small enough to fit in any purse, funny pack,  even in your pockets!
I choose my favorite wedding pictures, and I had fun putting them together..
Here is a couple more pages:

Swatch books come with 10 pages, that can be printed on both side, which gives you freedom for 20 different layouts, if you choose so. If you like the layout I created for my wedding pictures, I will transfer you the template when you sign up for your free account at www.preservemyheritage.com, and contact me to purchase your swatchbook and let me know that you would like to have this specific template.
Note: This swatchbook has been created with premier art, so you will need to have a premier membership(free 1 month for new clients on their first credit purchase) to be able to access it, but you can create a beautiful wedding swatchbook even with basic membership.
Swatch books are so affordable that you can make copies to give to your spouse, your parents, grandparents, and anyone that would enjoy having your wedding pictures at hand.
Swatchbooks are also a great wedding gift! Your friend/family members will thank you for giving them such a thoughtful gift, and you will be sure to give them something unique, and that they will cherish for years to come.

These blocks rock!

Have you ever tried creating something you have never done?
I had been wanting to create these Heritage blocks, but kept pushing the idea aside since I had many other projects to create, either for my family, a client or an event.
Finally I decided that it was time to try.
So, here is how I did it:

I used one of the templates in the Template Gallery, dragged and dropped my pictures, changed the text, clicked publish and had it shipped to my house.
I sent my husband to Home Depot to buy a 2x4, and have it cut in 3.5 in  and 7.5 in pieces.
I then nicely asked him to sand them for me^_^
I put together all that I needed:

I started painting the corners of the blocks with a paint that was as close as possible to the main color on the paper.

While the paint was drying, I cut out each of the elements and had them lined up for each block.
I used a brown marker around each piece of cut paper to make sure that the white of the paper wouldn't stand out once on the blocks.
I put a layer of modge podge on the back of each  piece of paper and glued each paper to each side of the block, as per the template.
I let everything dry for about 15 minutes and then applied a layer of modge podge and let it dry again.

This was my very first time doing something like this, and everybody loved it!

I must say I am pretty proud of it!
I now have a classy home decor that tells about my wedding and my heritage and my kids can play with it any time, without hearing me screaming "Don't touch it!!!" since they just cannot break them!^_^

How cool is that!

Update: my children love the blocks so much that I had to promise to make one for each of them with their own photos to play with... I might end up getting some decent pictures soon, if I remind them they are for their block;)

Christmas in July idea: Favorite family recipes book

So you think you can cook?
Why not share your talent with family and friends? Why not preserve those precious family recipes for generations to come and collect them in a beautiful and practical spiral bound book?
It is so easy and fun to create a cookbook with the Studio 3.0 software that you might not want to stop!

I am creating a cookbook with my own recipes, mostly Italian, learned over the years or just created out of the blue, that have become my family favorites.

I keep joking(seriously;)) that when my boys are grown up and become "wedding material", any girl that comes to my house will be presented with the cookbook and if, and only when they can cook my recipes, they can seriously date my sons, and eventually get married!

I dream of my grandchildren cooking my recipes, of my traditions being kept even when I will be gone, and this makes creating my cookbook even more meaningful and important.

The most difficult part for me is getting to use cups and tablespoons, as I am used to just cook as it goes, but I am really appreciating it as my husband can use my recipes when I am sick, instead of continually putting together PB&J or cheese sandwiches, which is what happen during my last difficult pregnancy.
It also helps when I get one of my "brain fart moments" and for some reason I can't remember what is missing in the dish I am preparing.
Since I have told my family and friends about the cookbook, I have had so many of them asking for a copy, so this looks like a great opportunity to share my culinary talents with my loved ones!

Creating your favorite recipes cookbook might be the best gift you have ever given to yourself or your dear ones, and you can be assured that is going to be cherished for years to come...
And when your family grows, it is a gift you can give any time to new family members, for Christmas, as a wedding gift, as a house warming gift or any other occasion. Your project will be stored in your account forever and you will be able to print more copies anytime!
Remember, with the BUY 3 GET the 4rth FREE Christmas in July deal, you can make copies for anyone on your Christmas list and save money and time! Or you can create a pasta recipes book, and a vegetable recipes book and a dessert recipes book, anything you feel like! Only 2 days left to take advantage of these incredible deals!!!
Call me or email me and I will be happy to help you get started on all your wonderful Christmas projects!

Brides on a budget

I wish I had known about Storybooking when I was getting married, 6 years ago...
We did everything on a budget, I really didn't care about anything but marrying the Love of my life and having lots of pictures to testify of the most important day of our life...
We didn't even have a professional photographer, just friends and family taking pictures with their camera. We ended up with more than 800 pictures, and many of them turned out really cute!
I didn't know anything about scrapbooking, I tried to make a wedding album with some pages embellished, but that was all.
4 years later I discovered Heritage Makers and was finally able to create a book with our love story, foldouts with pictures of our wedding and our honeymoon, and then a simple wedding album(which you can see going all the way down on this page).

Had I known Heritage Makers then, I could have created our invitations using the greeting cards, saving the dates and table place cards using the playing card format, a signature book, thank you cards... Everything would have just been unforgettable not only for me and my husband but also for all our family and friends, and what would have been even better, it would have still been on a budget.

We are living during troubled times, but people still get married, they are just getting smarter on how and where they are spending their money.

Since having a great professional photographer is the desire for most brides, you can still save money by choosing a photographer that will give you a CD with all the pictures and the copyright, allowing you to create your own wedding album, small books with engagement picture as center pieces at each table, signature book, invitations, canvases, posters, thank you card and any gift for your parents and the whole party.
Right now there is a package that is just perfect for professional looking bridal albums and keepsakes for you, your family and friends!
This is what it contains:
12x12 Wedding album
(2) 8x8 Wedding album(great for wedding story and parent book)
8x8 wedding Scrapbook
(2) Change of address playing cards
18x24 Wedding poster
(2) Matching Souvenir Family Folds
2 months Premiere membership
only $299.95 save $124.95!!!

Creating your own wedding albums, posters and any other product is so easy that you will have so much fun and will be so amazed when they will be shipped to you!
You can start by signing up for a FREE basic account here and then write me to let me know that you would like the wedding package or even to ask for any other package or deal with any other product(you can create a canvas for just $100, but could be much less if bought with at least a $200 package!). I want to save you as much money as possible and see you smile because not only you marry the love of your life, but you will be able to preserve every bit of that day saving tons of money!

So, brides, you can be on a budget and still have the wedding stationery and albums of your dream!
