Wedding pictures at hand

Remember your wedding? That was one of the most special day of your life...
If you are like me, and love those pictures that were taken on your day so much, if you could, you would bring your wedding album with you everywhere you go...
But..let's face it... That is not something that is really practical...
Well, I have found the solution for me: a swatchbook!

A swatchbook is small enough to fit in any purse, funny pack,  even in your pockets!
I choose my favorite wedding pictures, and I had fun putting them together..
Here is a couple more pages:

Swatch books come with 10 pages, that can be printed on both side, which gives you freedom for 20 different layouts, if you choose so. If you like the layout I created for my wedding pictures, I will transfer you the template when you sign up for your free account at www.preservemyheritage.com, and contact me to purchase your swatchbook and let me know that you would like to have this specific template.
Note: This swatchbook has been created with premier art, so you will need to have a premier membership(free 1 month for new clients on their first credit purchase) to be able to access it, but you can create a beautiful wedding swatchbook even with basic membership.
Swatch books are so affordable that you can make copies to give to your spouse, your parents, grandparents, and anyone that would enjoy having your wedding pictures at hand.
Swatchbooks are also a great wedding gift! Your friend/family members will thank you for giving them such a thoughtful gift, and you will be sure to give them something unique, and that they will cherish for years to come.

Bookmark your valentine!

How many valentines are going to be bought this year and then will fly in the trash in the next few days following Valentines day?
You know I hate waste, and I particularly dislike generic things, so when I found this template in the template gallery, I thought it would be really cool if my kid could hand out these cute bookmarks with his pictures this year. Aren't they adorable?

This has been created in a 5x7  invitation format, and will make 3 bookmarks once printed.
I am also thinking to create some for the grandparents, with a picture of all three boys in it, and just put "Granpa Rocks" or "Nana Rocks" on the back, so that they can see a picture of their grandchildren every time they sit to read!
If you would like to meke your children's valentines stand out this year, you can send me their pictures and I will create them for you, or you can create them yourself on your HM Publishing account.

All because 2 people fell in love...

I am so grateful for my children, and I love them more than anything. I never cease to be amazed at how these sweet spirits that once weren't here on earth, are now here to bring joy and love in my life...
It is such a miracle!
All because one day (7 years ago) their daddy and I fell in love...
I am here because one day my mom and dad fell in love, and my husband is here because one day his mom and dad fell in love...
Same goes for his parents, grandparents and so on, as far as I know...
While I was reflecting on this simple and at the same time wonderful fact yesterday, I realized I need to make a swatch book to tell exactly how our family tree is a product of Love.
This is what came out of that little inspiration of mine:
And I have done the same for our parents and grandparents.
At the end I have put 2 diagrams, one starting from my husband, one starting from me, with our parents, grandparents and great grandparents.

And then I listed the dates of marriage of our great grandparents

You might have noticed that my diagram is missing  the pictures of 5 of my greatgrandparents...
This is literally killing me, and  I want to take the opportunity to ask, if ever any of the descendants of Giuseppe Bottiglieri and Genoveffa Santoriello from Salerno/Cava de' Tirreni , or the descendants of Antonio Iannone and Francesca Iannone from Mercato San Severino, or the descendants of Antonio Sannazzaro and Margherita Giliberti from Solofra will find themselves reading this blog, and have any family pictures, please, PLEASE, contact me and let me know!
This is the back of my "Family Love Tree" swatchbook:

I am probably going to do something like this with a 7x5 Storybook, and then use these kind of diagrams in an ongoing project of mine, a Family history storybook, which will contain much more detailed info about my family's love stories...
Another idea that came to me while creating this swatchbook was to make a huge poster with a family tree where I will then hang a swatchbook for each branch, with the story of their family...
I just can't wait to order this with all the other swatchbooks I am working on, and find it on my doorstep!
This will allow me to have my extended genealogy at hand everywhere I go, since it will be in my bag all the time!
I hope this will inspire some of you to look for the love stories in your family, and honor them by putting them together and preserving them for all the "branches of Love" that will sprout from the main tree...

The best Valentine...

Valentine's day is going to be here sooner that you might think, and more than likely you are already thinking what you can do this year that is not the same as all the other years and that actually says"I love you and I really care about you"...
How about you just SAY it?
How about you tell your loved one about the reasons you love her/him in a 7x5 Storybook, just the right size to have always at hand, and at heart?
This is what I exactly did for my husband last year, and what is even better, he did the same for me!!!^_^
You can see my whole book for him here.
And his whole book for me here.
That was the best gift ever!
Sometimes we are so busy in our eclectic life, that we just hope our Soul mate just knows that we love him/her...
Well, that's not the case. The book my husband created for me, reminds me of the things he loves in me, and how much he loves me, and the same does my book for him.
Roses can look and smell good, chocolates can be so tasty and delicious, but they don't last, a book will be forever, just like your LOVE!
So, contact me today, and get ready to see a little tear of joy in the eyes of your loved one on Valentine's day! (or any other special day!)^_^

I saved each and every chat, each and every email, each and every message, photo, everything.
I knew our story was just so special it deserved to be written!
But life happens, so I never got around to write that book, until I discovered Heritage Makers, and I was given the chance to finally write our Love Story.
That was my very first book, and I created it when the Studio software was ages behind what it is now, so please forgive the design! Here it is:

One last thing:
I love you Chris!!!!

Don't wait!

How many of us feel that their life is so busy, they don't have time... Time to do the things that matter most...
Time to play with your children, time to make that telephone call to that friend of yours or to send a note to a dear one...
We get so busy trying to make the money we need for that vacation, or to buy everything for our children that we forget that we should take time to spend with our dear ones today.

I can't hide the fact that I fall in this trap many times...
My mom came to visit me last Christmas for the first time. Read more about it here.
During her 2 weeks stay at our house, she kept asking me to make her a calendar like the one I had made for our home, and I told her I would make her one for the next year since I wanted to collect all the birthdays from aunts and cousins.
She really didn't want to wait, but had to.
She kept asking about it every time I would call her, and I would tell her:"Don't worry, I will make it!".
Well, in the last week of July she ended up in critical conditions in a hospital there in England and I was faced with my worst fear: what if it is too late?
I had procrastinated all the steps needed to make that calendar she wanted so much, and I might never be able to give it to her...
That thought was killing me, so I started working on that calendar at once, even if I didn't know if I would have finished it in time to give it to her.
To speed up the process, I used a template, and started dragging and dropping family pictures.
I wrote my cousins to ask for pictures and birth dates to insert in the calendar for my mom to remember all of them. I called my aunts for the info I couldn't retrieve through the emails...
Thankfully my mom started getting better, but I kept asking for the missing birth dates to everybody.
Finally my mom was at home with my sister, and I just published her calendar, as soon as I got the last missing birth date.
You can see the whole calendar here.
I am so glad that she is better now, but I have learned the lesson.
DON'T WAIT!
Don't wait to have time to do those things that tell your loved ones that you love them and you care about them! Don't wait to write your family history! Don't wait to preserve your precious photos!
Don't wait for when you will have time:
MAKE THE TIME!

The best gift

What is the best gift you could give?
When I was younger I thought the more expensive a gift, the better.
In the beginning I loved dolls and cars; growing up it was the time of clothes and jewelry...
Then I grew up a little more, and realized that all those things weren't really important. What was starting to really be important, was time.
Time spent with my family, my friends.
Time I wish I could enjoy again talking with my dad, whom I lost when I was 13...
Time traveling and making new discoveries.
Time making memories.
Time preserving those memories.

My husband wanted to get me a diamond ring for our engagement. You might think I am weird, but my answer was:" And what would I do with it? Wouldn't a simple much less expensive ring still be a good memento of the day you asked me to marry you?
How about we save that money for future travels? For family needs?"
It took him a lot to understand that I really didn't desire a diamond ring, but then he appreciated the fact that we went 5 different places for our honey moon: Florida, Utah, Italy, Switzerland and England and that now we have a book preserving those memories.A diamond ring could only be passed on to one of our children. I can make copies of the book I made, and all my children will be able to enjoy it and share it with their children.
If they desire, the will be able to make more copies for each of their children so they will know their grandparents' love story.
I get my children's toys at garage sales. They will get broken anyway. The real gifts from me to them are the books I make about them, the playing cards with their pictures, the family folds, the genealogy posters I created.
While right now toys might be their first desire since they are so little, I know that when they will be grown up, they will really treasure these books and other projects I have taken the time to create for them.
I do have a couple dolls, and some jewelry pieces from my mom and my grandma and I do treasure them, but they tell me very little about the persons that gave them to me.
The Storybooks I create for my children and for all my other family members and friends, tell them that they are special to me, that they mean a lot, that they are worth the time I took to make something for them, to preserve a special memory.
These projects will remind them of me, of who I am when I am too old or I am not here anymore.
One of the last books I created was my son's VPK book. It has pictures of him, his friends, his teachers, and a collection of many of his favorite things.
I have no memory of my pre-k years(we call it asilo in Italy) except for a couple of flash backs that I can't tell if they are a dream of the reality. I don't remember any of the friends I had or what I liked to do there. My son will be able to look at the book and know that his memories are not dreams and remember all of his friends and favorite things.
How much I wish my parents could have done something like this for me, but there was nothing like Heritage Makers 30 years ago!

So, don't waste your time looking for expensive gifts that could end up in a future garage sale or that just aren't able to really say a lot about you.
Take time to tell the stories in your home.
Take time to help your child understand his/her self worth, to improve his/her self esteem, make a book about him or her , about his/her family history.
Take time to read these books with your children at night time or any other time during the day.
Time is the best gift you can give, and you will see that as time goes by, all the other material things lose importance and value while time with the memories related to it becomes the most precious thing of all!

Brides on a budget

I wish I had known about Storybooking when I was getting married, 6 years ago...
We did everything on a budget, I really didn't care about anything but marrying the Love of my life and having lots of pictures to testify of the most important day of our life...
We didn't even have a professional photographer, just friends and family taking pictures with their camera. We ended up with more than 800 pictures, and many of them turned out really cute!
I didn't know anything about scrapbooking, I tried to make a wedding album with some pages embellished, but that was all.
4 years later I discovered Heritage Makers and was finally able to create a book with our love story, foldouts with pictures of our wedding and our honeymoon, and then a simple wedding album(which you can see going all the way down on this page).

Had I known Heritage Makers then, I could have created our invitations using the greeting cards, saving the dates and table place cards using the playing card format, a signature book, thank you cards... Everything would have just been unforgettable not only for me and my husband but also for all our family and friends, and what would have been even better, it would have still been on a budget.

We are living during troubled times, but people still get married, they are just getting smarter on how and where they are spending their money.

Since having a great professional photographer is the desire for most brides, you can still save money by choosing a photographer that will give you a CD with all the pictures and the copyright, allowing you to create your own wedding album, small books with engagement picture as center pieces at each table, signature book, invitations, canvases, posters, thank you card and any gift for your parents and the whole party.
Right now there is a package that is just perfect for professional looking bridal albums and keepsakes for you, your family and friends!
This is what it contains:
12x12 Wedding album
(2) 8x8 Wedding album(great for wedding story and parent book)
8x8 wedding Scrapbook
(2) Change of address playing cards
18x24 Wedding poster
(2) Matching Souvenir Family Folds
2 months Premiere membership
only $299.95 save $124.95!!!

Creating your own wedding albums, posters and any other product is so easy that you will have so much fun and will be so amazed when they will be shipped to you!
You can start by signing up for a FREE basic account here and then write me to let me know that you would like the wedding package or even to ask for any other package or deal with any other product(you can create a canvas for just $100, but could be much less if bought with at least a $200 package!). I want to save you as much money as possible and see you smile because not only you marry the love of your life, but you will be able to preserve every bit of that day saving tons of money!

So, brides, you can be on a budget and still have the wedding stationery and albums of your dream!

I love the father of my children

Yes, I love my husband, I am so grateful that he chose me as the mother of his children a little over 6 years ago, and I want him to know it every day more, so I have created a father's day card for him, with pictures of him with our children, our children alone, and all of us together, and a few words that express what our children and I feel.
He is such a great dad, he plays with the kids, changes diapers, cooks when I cannot do it, helps me give the boys their baths, and works hard to find a job now that he is unemployed while allowing me to preserve our heritage so that our children will always know who they are.
I created this card starting from a template in the template gallery and I changed it a little because I wanted to add more pictures, inside and on the back. It took just a few minutes and the best dad in the world is going to have a wonderful card for father's day! You can have a full view of the card by clicking here.
You will be able to zoom, open and close and see the card from any angle just by clicking on it and dragging around with your mouse.

Storybooking: what is this?

Storybooking: You might be reading about it in the newspapers, finding it on the internet, hearing about it on the radio, seeing it talked about on tv, probably heard me talking about it or found it in one of my emails, but what is it and is it something you should know about?

Storybooking is the process of creating your own hardbound or softbound book. Storybooks created through storybooking contain pictures and words. They can contain stories of those who lived before your life, of those who lived during your life, or of something you wish to be in the future, or desire to inspire your children to be. Storybooking is scrapbooking for the digital age but with more options and capabilities.

"Storybooking is the unique process of combining photographs with personalized story text into one or more professionally hardbound storybooks for ages one to 101. What scrapbooking was to the last century, storybooking is to this new century." - Heritage Makers, LLC

Should I Storybook?

Do you have stories you wish you could tell your children? Or grandchildren? Would you like to publish your own children’s book? When your father died did you wish your son could understand how great of a man his grandfather really was? Wouldn’t it be great to read your son’s birth story to him at night before he goes to sleep? Do you want to show your friend the great love the children she teaches have for her?
Would you like to improve your child self esteem presenting with a book about the things he can do, or about how much you love him/her? Does your mom know that you are so grateful for all that she does and has done for you? What do you get your wife to show her how appreciative you are of her? How do you show your husband that the last 50 years have been incredible? Do you have a ton of unprinted digital photographs that may never be seen? There are many experiences you can storybook about. Your memories are so precious, it would be a pity if they were forgotten. You can really love somebody when you know their story.

How Do I Begin Storybooking?

• Think about stories associated with your pictures
• Choose the story/memory you wish to preserve
• If the story is about somebody else, ask questions.
• If you don't know what questions to ask, I can help!
• Find all pictures associated with chosen story
Scan the pictures wanted if they are not on your computer yet.

Make your mom cry for Mother's day!!

Ok, I am not trying to tell you to hurt your mom, but if you are like me, you just don't want to give a gift just because you have to, but because it comes from your heart, and you desire to reach your mother's heart.
I really desired to give a gift that touches the heart, that is why I am giving my mom a Storybook about her visit here in the States.
I hope I will be able to steal a tear from her eyes.
You see, my mom is not the kind of person that will show you her emotions, and it is really difficult to get a thank you or any kind of appreciation from her.
I had been asking her to come visit me in the States for more than 5 years, and her excuse was always her fear of the long airplane flight...
Well, last year I sent her a mother's day card in which I expressed her again our desire to have visit us here, and the miracle happened: she was finally going to come to America!!!

She came for Christmas, and I want her to know how much we appreciated her coming here, so I put this book together for her.
