A genealogist's view of a mother

This morning, I was sitting on the chair while my husband was making my mother's day breakfast, and I started to think that I wanted to make a mother's day quote that could be also used as a genealogy quote... A few minutes later, this is what was created:

 

Then another one came to my mind, and I feel that it really shows how important mothers are in a family tree.

I know that to us genealogists, a mother's maiden name can be frustrating when not found, because it means slowing  down our researches, pulling our hair, sleepless nights, but we carry something that will not show on the paper. 

 It is a love that gets carried down from generation to generation and  defines us much more than a last name could.

It took just a couple minutes to make these 2 pages (it took more to think of the quotes:)).

I just love how putting a quote on a page and beautifying it with images just enhances the whole meaning of it.

I just want to wish a happy mother's day to the mother that were, the mothers that are, and the mothers that will bless the lives of children all over the world!

Creating home decor

I must say, I am really starting enjoying creating my own home decor!
Using a template for a 12x12 page, I had my quotes printed and shipped to my house.
When my husband bought the 2x4 used to create the Heritage blocks, it was enough to create 2 sets of those and at least two sets of these FAMILY~FRIENDS~FAITH value ones and something else!
Once he had sanded the blocks, I started painting them

While the paint was drying, I cut the various quotes:

The simplify and amore one are for a later project.

 

Finally I used modge podge to stick  a quote on each block, let it dry and then applied a layer of modge podge over the whole block.

Pretty cool, eh? And so inexpensive!!!

This can be another great Christmas gift, or house warming gift, or just because gift, to have ready and prepared so that you know, should you forget a special occasion....;)

Genealogy quotes

I have been looking for genealogy quotes lately, and I have found quotes of various kind: funny, sad, morbid, serious...
There are some that have really stuck with me, so I have decided that I will start creating a layout for the ones I like most.
This is the first one I created in a 5x7 postcard format, that can eventually be framed:

How do you like it?
I would like to invite you to send me any kind of genealogy quotes you have, I will read them all, and create layouts out of the ones that inspire me most, or make me laugh most!
Even better, if you have your own free HM publishing account, you can easily create a layout for your favorite genealogy quote and if you like you can send it to me, I will be happy to share it on my blog. It can be anything, a post card, a greeting card, a scrap page, the beginning of a storybook, a poster even a page of calendar, anything you can come up with!
Hmm...It surely would be a great gift for any genealogist if you create a calendar with the best genealogy quotes you can find and embellish it with photos of his/her ancestors!
As you can see, the ideas are endless!
