New Year Resolutions

Wow, is it really here? Is it really going to be 2010?
This looks like a very special year to be!
Have you thought about your new year resolutions yet?
Mine are quite a few:
  1. Surprising my Eternal Companion more and more in every possible way
  2. Spending more quality time with my children(It's never enough!)
  3. Looking for more opportunities to make somebody smile
  4. Finish that cookbook that everybody has been waiting on! (no more putting it aside for work related projects!)
  5. Going to Italy! As a vacation, maybe forever?;)
  6. Taking better care of myself, after all, if mamma doesn't function, nothing functions in the house!
  7. Strenghtening my testimony
  8. Improving my spoken English!
The list is actually much  longer, but you will have to be content with this little sneak peak!;)
With each resolution accomplished, will come memory preserving, either in a book, calendar, card, journal, any means is valid to preserve and share the special moments, accomplishments, opportunities that this new year will bring.

If you haven't compiled your 2010 New Year Resolution yet, I invite you to do it, and maybe preserve it for your Yearbook, check it out at least once a month, to make sure that you are been faithful to yourself, and then at the end of the year to evaluate everything.
Our life is so busy that we often tend to forget the most important things, and we need all the help we can get to focus and keep on the right path.
May this year be the year that we might keep our most important resolutions, and that we might see our life and the life of the ones we love flourish and thrive.
Make sure this year is unforgettable, and take even just a few minutes at a time to record what matters most to you. It will be worth it!
Have a wonderful 2010!

Last day of the year, last chance to give the gift of story!

Just one quick reminder that today is the last day you have to take advantage of the special sale prices to give the gift of story to your dear ones.
You will find the flier here.
Help your dear ones preserve their memories, give them the opportunity to think about it, and the means to actually do it this year!

Goodbye 2009

The last day of 2009 is finally here.
So many memories, so many emotions, so many people we have shared our life, our thoughts, even just a moment in time with...
Do you remember everything?
Unfortunately, I don't think anybody can honestly answer yes to that question.
I am sure we remember the important events, we hopefully have taken pictures to captures as many special moments as possible, but.. How many times have we taken the time to write our thoughts, our feelings, our hopes for that person that we took a picture of?
If you haven't done it yet, now is the time to work at your family yearbook.
Start by choosing the pictures that better portrait each month, each important day.
For each of them, write down even just a thought, something that will then help you write more about it.
It really doesn't take so much to preserve your memories, but you need to start!
My yearbook will contain my children little achievements, our families adventures, our further struggles with my husband unemployment, and our hopes for the future since he finally found a job right at the end of the year.
In it I will share how much I have missed my beautiful Italy, my family, my places, my food, the little things and at the same time how much i am grateful to my Father in Heaven to have helped us through all the trials.
This year has even been the year I started this blog, and I have gotten to know many of you.
While I say goodbye to 2009, I really want to take a moment to thank each and everyone of you for making this experience so special, and for the supportive words and comments that have kept me going!

Merry Christmas!

I haven't been able to create all the posts I had been planning to do, since  I have been sick with all my 3 kids being sick the past 7 days,  but I want to take even just a second to wish all of you a wonderful Christmas.
May we all create special memories and make the time to record them in a journal, a book, or any other means.
Buon Natale!!!!

Cheer for the sport hero in your family!

How much time do you spend running your kids around to go to their sport practice? How many games you go to cheer your kid up?
You spend so much time supporting your child endeavors, that you need to preserve it in a book!
Your children are the best, they are the champions, it doesn't matter is only to you or the whole team! Let them  know by creating a book about this or last year season, personalized lanyards, flashcards for the whole team, and super cool posters to proudly show off in their bedroom!
With the many sport related templates, it is so easy to tell your child he/she is the hero in your home!
You can coordinate them too!
Look at this fantastic Soccer collection!

Check them out!
Football Player 5x5 Storybook
Football  Player 8x8 book
Football lanyard

More coordinates will be added, but there are many more sport templates too choose from and  and if you don't like something, you can always modify a template to match it to your child's team colors, add more or less pictures, you can really do anything you want with these templates!
How about a cute clock with a picture of your baseball champion:

How great would be for your kid to be the star on a magazine cover like this:

or to be in a great poster like this?

with a coordinated book like this?

How cool would this 12x12 page look framed!

On the CavaGenealogy facebook page you will find pictures of more posters, cards, books etc to choose from or to sparkle your ideas for your little champion!
Should you not find the template for the item you are looking for, no problem! I can always create it!
So, cheer for the sport hero in your family, and preserve these precious memories!

Are you a cat lover?

If you know me, if you really really know me, then you must know that I am a cat lover. I have taken care of hundreds of cats during the course of my life
I cannot possibly count the times my mom would scream at me for bringing home yet another cat in desperate need.
I cannot blame her, in fact, I would take such good care of these cats, that not only would they survive, but they would thrive, and pretty much start a tribe at our home and property.
What can I say... I loved them, and they loved me! I had to leave 20 cats when I came here to America, and I still miss them and dream of them...
I have many stories I could tell you about them, and probably will, little by little, share all that they have thought me...
While we don't have cats in our home(YET), I always think of them, so you can imagine how much I fell in love with this swatch book template when I discovered it in the template gallery.

Click here to see a preview of the whole template, you'll get a kick out of it!

I think it would make a perfect gift for an animal lover like me!
You can bring your favorite pet with you everywhere you go!

I miss my cats so much that I have decided to give away a swatch book credit to a real cat lover.
Leave a comment telling me about your cat(s), and why you think he/she/ they deserve(s) to be on a swatch book.
The most touching/funny/crazy story about your cats that I will receive before Christmas, will be the one that will make someone a proud cat  swatch book owner.
Start going down memory lane, while going through those pictures of your best friend, I am sure you will find the perfect story to share with us!^_^

Another cool idea: Home decor tiles

Looking for an extra something for the bookshelf in the living room, for the counter in the bathroom, for the credenza in the dining room? Home décor tiles make perfect display pieces for any room of the house. Plus, the tiles are simple to make and the materials easy to find. You can add a little something extra to your home with little more than a snap. Here’s how to get started.
Materials needed
  • Tile template from the Template Gallery. Just type in “tiles” in the keyword search to find beautiful 12×12 scrap pages made into tile templates. (Four this project, choose a template that comes with four squares to go on 6×6 tiles)
  • Mod Podge
  • Sponge brush
  • Four 6×6 tiles (can find these at Home Depot, Lowes, or other home improvement store.)
Get started:
  1. Find the template you want to work with in Heritage Makers Template Gallery and modify it to fit your style in Studio editor.

    1. To replace papers and photos, keep the element you want to replace locked in place, click it so it is highlighted, and drag the replacement paper or photo over the “drop here to swap” window that will appear.
    2. Delete and replace other embellishments to design the template just the way you want it.

  2. Publish and order your project. You can continue with the rest of the steps when you project arrives.
  3. Cut out the tile square from your finished 12×12 scrap page so each measures as a 6×6 paper.
  4. Using a sponge brush, apply Mod Podge over the top surface of one 6×6 tile.
  5. Place one 6×6 square paper over the Mod Podge area of the 6×6 tile so it is centered and aligned with the edges.
  6. Apply more Mod Podge over the top of the 6×6 square page. Make sure the corners of the paper glue securely to the tile.
  7. Repeat steps 4 – 6 with the remaining square papers and tiles.
  8. Let tiles dry.
  9. When the tiles are finished, you can embellish each with a simple ribbon or let stand as is.
  10. Use a display stand to show off your tile pieces in any room.
